'Twitter Sucks!' The Backlash Begins | The New York Observer

Anyone who didn't think this was some stunt missed the point. I love the fact that the ruse of one man versus a media company was used. It is true to an extent. But that could be said of anyone who is famous enough to have their commentary covered in the media. One voice against a media company fueled by a voice that media companies promote. Yeah. I see how people missed that.
I think it was funny to take on CNN and to have Ashton Kutcher be the first one with a million followers. I followed just to be part of the ride. It was an interesting experience to watch it unfold. It was like betting on the Super Bowl or on a friend if he could eat fifty eggs. It was being part of pop culture exploding into the geeky social web.
I wonder who will try to be the next big "mover" in all of this. Some have tried but it is those with a voice already being heard that others will follow easily. Twitter has been a great outlet for the microfamous. But maybe this was the way the famous take it all back. "Sure, you have 10,000 or 20,000 followers but nothing compared to the 1,000,000 us truly famous have.." I can almost hear it echoing from the TV...
One voice from one man. Preselected and paid for by big media. But it did raise awareness and money for a cause. So to that I salute you Ashton Kutcher.. But don't think I am ever going to follow your mindless dribble again. It would be a waste of my time.

Everyone should. A great event. It is going on rain or shine and they have waived the $3.00 re-entry fee (you still buy a ticket though) so you can dry off if you need to.

I saw them at Stubb's a few years ago here in Austin. When they started playing this song it started to rain. As they finished the last notes of it it stopped.. (for a few minutes) The timing of it made the moment for the entire crowd as everyone went nuts and cheered. Since its a rainy day here in Austin it seems a good fit for today.

I was going to watch Lolita with a friend last night and it made me think of this video.

Another one bites the dust due to changes in the sound ordinance in Austin. The city is now going to have to consider changing its tag line from "Music Capitol of the World" to "Really quiet town with a guy.a guitar, and no amp or mic"
